Longwood honored one of its legendary musical figures, Miguel Amadeo, owner of Casa Amadeo, by renaming the corner where the Latin music shop has long stood Miguel Amadeo Way.

Several elected officials were on hand to announce the renaming of the intersection of Prospect and Westchester avenues for the owner of the city’s longest running specialty retailer in salsa and mambo recordings, as well as instruments.

Amadeo has also composed hundreds of salsa songs over the years for star performers like Celia Cruz and El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.
